TecFutures asked 75 CSPs to rank the overall importance of vertical sectors in terms of market size and revenue potential. We asked them for their current assessment and how they see this in the next 12 to 24 months.
TecFutures recognizes that IoT is a very competitive market and it is interesting to see where CSP priorities are shifting. There are several key takeaways:
Over this time period, CSPs expect the importance of various IoT sectors to change for them in terms of size and revenue opportunity but they will maintain a significant and diverse presence in multiple verticals. This presents a challenge because alongside CSP sector diversification, we also see demand for sector specific expertise by enterprises.
Higher growth is expected from automotive manufacturing, as well as from non-automotive transportation, storage and logistics, and asset tracking
Interestingly, manufacturing and industrial, retail and agriculture are falling in importance to CSPs although do remain important
In absolute terms, the top three most important sectors over the next 12 to 24 months will be storage and logistics, utilities and energy, and healthcare
